The OGD has been a bit slow in posting approval actions this month. The total number posted through July 15th are 24 full-approval actions and 2 tentative-approval actions. There were none posted yet for July 16th and 17th, but this may just be a delay in processing the actions through the system. Regardless, with half of the month behind us, the number of approval actions in July is one of the lowest we’ve seen midway through a month in a long time, particularly with regard to tentative-approval actions. Could it be that the layoffs are finally catching up with staff and having a negative impact on the workload? With the threat of more layoffs coming, is the staff starting to feel the pressure?
We’ll closely monitor the OGD’s approval actions, as always, but will also keep our ear to the ground to see whether we can make more sense of what looks like a turndown in approval output. It could, of course, just not be such a good month. Remember, as the Shirelles’ song goes, “Mama said there’d be days like this”!
